What Do I Need to Know to Get the Polish Charter?

The Polish Charter interview is not a formal exam – it’s a meeting where you need to demonstrate basic knowledge of the Polish language and awareness of Polish culture and national identity.

The consul will mainly ask why you want to receive the Polish Charter and how you are connected to Polish heritage – through your family, ancestors, community involvement, or personal interests.

You should understand simple questions and be able to answer in full, though simple, sentences. You don’t need perfect Polish – what matters is that you can speak independently and with confidence.

Already know a few Polish words? That’s a great start. We’ll help you organize your knowledge and prepare for the interview without stress.

Questions & Answers

1. Is the Polish Charter interview an exam?

No. It’s more like a qualification interview – led by a consul, focused on your connection to Poland. You must speak Polish and show knowledge of basic facts about the country.

2. Where does the interview take place?

It takes place at the Polish consulate in the country where you live. The date and location are set after you submit your Polish Charter application. Waiting times depend on the country.

3. Do I need school-level knowledge of Polish history?

No. The consul won’t expect you to know everything. You just need to know key facts, people, and national symbols – for example, who Józef Piłsudski was, what the 3rd May Constitution is, what the national colors are, and which holidays we celebrate in Poland.

4. Can I prepare with someone who has already done the interview?

Yes! At 3BEAT, we teach based on real experiences from people who passed the interview in recent years. We use actual questions and real interview scenarios.
